January 15, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) announced significant investments by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) for Central Washington water infrastructure:

  • Columbia Basin Project (Ephrata and Grand Coulee) received $6,172,000 for the Leavenworth Hatchery, Odessa Groundwater Replacement, Potholes Supplemental Feed Route, and Pasco Groundwater Management.
  • Yakima River Basin Water Enhancement Project received $7,700,000 for water efficiency and reliability improvements in partnership with states, tribes, and irrigation districts.

"Both of these water infrastructure projects are longstanding, collaborative efforts that our region relies on," said Rep. Newhouse. "This investment by the Bureau of Reclamation will ensure that we can continue to make progress on completing the Columbia Basin Project and the Yakima Project to ensure reliable water delivery for our agriculture industry and local communities."

The funds made available were enacted from the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, Public Law 116-260, which provided appropriations for Fiscal Year 2021. Click here to see the full distribution of FY 2021 funding.
