Newhouse Calls For Increasing American Energy Production

May 11, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after joining Rep. Fred Keller (R-PA) and 19 of his House Republican colleagues in introducing a resolution to express support for the development of American oil and natural gas and to highlight how the Biden Administration has weakened domestic energy producers and the nation’s energy industry as a whole.

“Today, gas prices hit a new all-time high in Washington and across the United States—thanks to the Biden Administration’s throttling of our world-class energy sector,” said Rep. Newhouse. “Rather than turning to adversarial nations to increase their fossil fuel production as President Biden continues to do, it is imperative we support the safe and responsible development of our own domestic energy resources to protect our national security and lower energy costs for all Americans. This resolution reaffirms our commitment to do just that.”

Today, the average price of gas in Washington State jumped to a new all-time high of $4.89 a gallon, the 4th highest state in gas prices.
