RICHLAND, WA – Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) recognized Pasco residents James and Angie Sessions with the 2018 Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s “Angels in Adoption” award. November is National Adoption Month, and Rep. Newhouse honored the Sessions family for their outstanding advocacy of adoption and foster care issues.

“James and Angie opened their hearts to foster care and adoption, and for their four children, they truly are Angels in Adoption,” said Rep. Newhouse. “They are absolutely deserving of this recognition, and I am proud to honor them for their dedication to children in our community. I hope their story will be an inspiration to other families in Central Washington considering becoming foster or adoptive parents.”

James and Angie were inspired to become foster parents after learning about the foster care system at a local church camp for children in state custody. They became foster parents for four siblings – three young brothers and their baby sister – and were determined to keep the family together. In August of 2017, the Sessions family grew from 2 to 6 when Ajay, Nathan, Kyler, and Layla found their forever home with James and Angie in Pasco.

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is a non-profit organization that works to raise awareness about the needs of children without families and to remove policy barriers that hinder children from knowing the love and support a family provides. CCAI’s Angels in Adoption initiative provides an opportunity for Members of Congress to honor an individual or entity from their district which has made an extraordinary contribution on behalf of children in need of homes.

CCAI is a 501(c)3 nonpartisan organization dedicated to raising awareness about the tens of thousands of orphans and foster children in the United States and the millions of orphans around the world in need of permanent, safe and loving homes through adoption.
