Newhouse Highlights CCP’s Threats to America
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) and the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party held their first hearing titled “The Chinese Communist Party’s Threat to America.”
During the hearing, the Select Committee received testimony from non-governmental witnesses on the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) threat to America. The hearing provided an overview of how the relationship between the United States and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) arrived at this point and described the CCP’s threat to our security, our economy, and our values.

Rep. Newhouse questioned General McMaster regarding CCP-backed purchases of American farmland and potential purchases near strategic sites such as military installations or critical infrastructure. He also questioned Ms. Tong regarding the “White Paper” protests last fall and the similarities to previous dissident movements in China.
