October 9, 2019

VANCOUVER, WA – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) was honored as Legislator of the Year by the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association (PNWA) at the group's annual convention in Vancouver, WA. PNWA annually awards its Legislator of the Year award to a member of Congress who has gone above and beyond in supporting waterborne commerce, economic development, and navigation infrastructure in the Pacific Northwest.

"Our river system is vital to our way of life in Central Washington and the Pacific Northwest, from the affordable and reliable electricity provided by our dams to the barging and transportation options for agricultural producers," said Rep. Newhouse. "It is truly an honor to receive this award, and I look forward to continuing to work with PNWA as a partner in protecting and promoting the benefits of our rivers and waterways."

"Congressman Newhouse has been one of the most vocal supporters of renewable hydropower and reliable, efficient inland navigation in our Congressional delegation, prominently highlighting the Columbia Snake River System in hearings, press conferences, and other venues in his district and the nation's capital," said PNWA Executive Director Kristin Meira. "We are thankful for his leadership, and pleased to present him this award in honor of his significant efforts."
