WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) was honored on Monday at the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce's "State of the City" Luncheon in Yakima, when he was presented with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce "Spirit of Enterprise Award" for his support of pro-growth, pro-jobs policies in Congress.

"A thriving economy means more jobs and rising opportunity for families in Central Washington," said Rep. Newhouse. "I am grateful for this award, which represents my support for pro-growth, pro-jobs enterprises. It is an honor to receive this recognition, and I will continue to support policies – from simplifying the tax code to promoting our agricultural economy – that create jobs and foster American entrepreneurship."

"The Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce is extremely proud of the representation that Congressman Newhouse has shown for our local economy and business community," said Verlynn Best, President and CEO of the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce. "We're pleased to host the U.S. Chamber as they present the ‘Spirit of Enterprise Award' for all of his support to grow the Yakima Valley and region."

The Chamber's prestigious Spirit of Enterprise Award is given annually to members of Congress based on their votes on critical business legislation. This is the 30th year that the U.S. Chamber has formally honored the accomplishments of this select group of members of Congress, and the third time that Rep. Newhouse has received the award.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
