Newhouse: “House Republicans are united in getting energy production and security back on track”
Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04) joined Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Whip Tom Emmer and GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik at a press conference to discuss his resolution denouncing President Biden’s failed energy policies.
Watch Rep. Newhouse’s Remarks HERE or read below as prepared:
“It is no secret that since day one in the White House, President Biden has consistently made energy decisions based on the agendas of the extreme climate lobby.
His administration has consistently proposed and finalized regulations that increase the cost of energy for consumers, punish domestic producers, and increase reliance on our adversaries for our energy needs.
As a third-generation farmer in Congress I hear every day the challenges that just our sector alone is dealing with.
The administration has driven gas prices so high that farmers cannot afford to operate at even close to normal capacity. This is draining the budgets of farms across our country and is snowballing into damaging domestic food supply chains.
As Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus, I hear from people across this country that are literally cutting their grocery expenses to help pay for their energy bills.
Everyone from small businesses to single households are strained by this administration’s out-of-touch policies that seem to have no end.
I am proud to bring House Resolution 987 forward to denounce the policies of this administration for their unnecessary and unprecedented war on American energy.
Now is the time for common-sense solutions to the disaster they have led us to, and I thank Speaker Johnson, Leader Scalise, Whip Emmer, and Chairwoman Stefanik for championing this issue.
We have a lot of work still ahead of us, but House Republicans are united in getting our country’s energy production and security back on track.
Thank you.”
Later this week the House will vote on Rep. Newhouse’s resolution that condemns the Biden Administration’s energy policies and regulations that increase costs of energy for consumers, hamper domestic production, and increase reliance on foreign adversaries for American energy demands.
