Newhouse: National Debt is a Threat to National Security

May 21, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) joined his colleagues in introducing a resolution to recognize America's national debt as a threat to our national security. Earlier this month, the national debt reached $28 trillion.

"President Biden has put forth one trillion-dollar package after another, racking up debt that Americans cannot afford. Today, our national debt has topped $28,000,000,000,000 and poses a very real threat to the United States. Runaway federal spending creates an unstable outlook for our economy, our nation's future, and the next generation of Americans," said Rep. Newhouse. "Congress must work together to return to fiscal responsibility and reduce the unsustainable national debt by reining in federal spending and cutting government waste. The security of our children and grandchildren depends on us addressing this crisis, and Central Washington's communities deserve better."
