Rep. Newhouse to Serve as Vice-Chair of Nuclear Cleanup Caucus
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after the announcement that he would serve as a vice-chair of the House Nuclear Cleanup Caucus in the 114th Congress. The announcement came during the first meeting of the Nuclear Cleanup Caucus, which is also co-chaired by Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN) and Rep. Ben Lujan (D-NM).
“Ensuring that the federal government meets its moral and legal cleanup obligations at Hanford and other sites across the country is one of my highest priorities, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Nuclear Cleanup Caucus as a vice-chair," said Rep. Newhouse. "When it comes to advancing cleanup, it's important for advocates to speak with one voice, and the Caucus is a tool to help achieve that goal. I recognize the many years of hard work and leadership that Doc Hastings provided as the founder of the Caucus, and it is in his spirit of collegial leadership that I look forward to making bipartisan, bicameral progress on nuclear cleanup issues.”
