Rep. Newhouse Statement on House Passage of Obamacare Repeal
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 596, To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In January, Rep. Newhouse requested that House leadership schedule a vote to repeal Obamacare. The bill passed the House today on a vote of 239-186.
“Today, I was proud to vote to restore individual healthcare choices and government accountability by repealing this damaging law. Americans deserve more options for high-quality and affordable healthcare, not a one-size fits all approach that jeopardizes access to doctors and healthcare insurance plans the President famously said they could keep. The shoddy manner in which Obamacare was written and implemented has created a tangled web of burdensome regulations and mandates, resulting in uncertainty and dramatic cost increases for families and businesses. I urge the Senate to act quickly to pass this legislation and send it to the President’s desk. I look forward to supporting healthcare proposals that put individuals first, not government bureaucracy.”
Earlier today, Rep. Newhouse also spoke on the floor of the House in support of repealing Obamacare:
