Newhouse Applauds Transportation Grant for Methow Valley State Airport

WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation noticed a grant for apron and runway rehabilitation for the Methow Valley State Airport in Okanogan County:

"The Transportation Department's grant announcement is good news for the Methow Valley and for the North Cascade Smokejumper Base in Winthrop," said Rep. Newhouse. "The airport facility upgrades should benefit airport users as well as the ability of the NCSB to fulfill its mission of fire prevention."

$2,614,091.00 for to rehabilitate the apron and runway at Methow Valley State Airport.

In August, Rep. Newhouse announced that the U.S Forest Service finalized and adopted a recommendation to maintain the North Cascade Smokejumper Base in Winthrop. In July, Rep. Newhouse ensured that the Interior Appropriations bill approved by the House Appropriations Committee included his language supporting the North Cascades Smokejumper Base remaining in Winthrop.
