Applying for a Congressional Nomination:

Thank you for your interest in the U.S. Service Academies, and as your Representative in Congress, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. For more information, please review the page of Frequently Asked Questions for those seeking a Military Academy Nomination.

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies:

U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY, (845) 938-4041

U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD, (410) 293-4361

U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO, (719) 333-3070

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY, (516) 773-5391

The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

Several of the Military Service Academies offer Summer Seminars and other summer programs. Click here for more information.

It is in the best interest of an applicant seeking a nomination for the service academies to contact their Member of Congress and both Senators, as well as the Office of the Vice President. Please note that each office has its own application procedure; be sure to verify what is required and their associated deadlines.
