Newhouse: Biden Embarrasses U.S. on World Stage

Press Release
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after President Biden's address to the United Nations General Assembly:
"In front of the UN today, President Biden defended his actions over the last several months and vowed to work towards "relentless diplomacy." What he failed to address were the repercussions his so-called leadership has had on our country's standing in the world. Our European allies were left aghast at our catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan, leaving hundreds of Americans and thousands of allies trapped under a terrorist regime in the largest hostage situation in U.S. history. France, our oldest ally, recalled their ambassador—another first in American history—due to a completely foreseeable foreign policy failure by the Biden Administration. Border crossings have reached such unprecedented levels that even the Mexican government has criticized our handling of the situation. Not to mention skyrocketing inflation and unprecedented new spending threatening both our nation’s economy as well as the global recovery. The worst part? Today's speech did nothing to reassure our allies we have the leadership in place to tackle these crises.
President Biden has said “America is back” under his presidency—but right now, with his hands on the wheel, we only continue to pile on crisis after crisis, embarrass ourselves on the world stage, and weaken our standing in the face of our adversaries. It’s time we changed course, reassert our leadership in the world, and defend our principles so once again our friends and allies have reason to trust us."
