WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) today released the following statement after the House approved the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018 (NDAA) on a vote of 344-81. The legislation will next be considered in the Senate:

“Keeping our nation safe requires investments in our military and national defense, and I was proud to vote in favor of this legislation to authorize critical funding for our national security, including the largest pay increase for our troops in eight years,” said Rep. Newhouse. “This bill helps equip and train our Armed Forces and begins the vital process of rebuilding our military, while implementing much-need reforms at the Department of Defense. NDAA includes authorization for defense-related priorities in Central Washington, especially Hanford cleanup and improved firefighting capabilities at the Yakima Training Center.”
