"I just left President Trump's third State of the Union address, and I think it was the best he's ever delivered," said Rep. Newhouse. "It was full of hope, optimism, and a lot of the accomplishments we've seen over the last couple of years. I think the President's message was good: The future of America is bright. The light of God is still shining on this country."

He continued, "We still have challenges to meet as well – drug trafficking, human trafficking, reducing crime in this country. There are a lot of things we need to work on as a country by putting our heads together in a bipartisan way. There were several times tonight that Republicans and Democrats stood up to clap, and I think we can find common ground to move forward and make this nation as great as it can be."

Rep. Newhouse was joined by two guests from Central Washington, Jon DeVaney and Chief Ken Hohenberg.

Jon DeVaney is the President of the Washington State Tree Fruit Association and Chairman of the National Council of Agricultural Employers. He serves as a strong advocate for Washington's agriculture industry and understands the importance of fair trade agreements like the USMCA and U.S.-China trade deal. He continues to work with Rep. Newhouse to make reforms to the H-2A agricultural guestworker program and address the labor crisis facing American agriculture.

Chief Ken Hohenberg of the Kennewick Police Department has served the Tri-Cities community for over 40 years, cultivating positive relationships between citizens and law enforcement. He works everyday to keep families safe and is leading the fight against drug trafficking in Washington state.
