Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04) released the following statement after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Park Service released the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) with proposed action on the question of introducing grizzly bears to the North Cascades ecosystem.

Today, Congressman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) led 71 Members of Congress in sending a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan and Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Michael Connor regarding the lack of clarity on the agencies’ regulatory definition of waters of the United States (WOTUS) following the Supreme Court’s decision in Sackett v. EPA.  

Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) introduced legislation which would withdraw the National Park Service (NPS) and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) proposed 10(j) rule and the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the Draft Grizzly Bear Restoration Plan.

Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) demanded the National Park Service (NPS) and Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) extend the public comment period on a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and accompanying 10(j) proposal under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) on the Establishment of a Nonessential Experimental Population of Grizzly Bear in the North Cascades Ecosystem in Washington State.

Rep. Newhouse reacted to a proposed rule under section 10(j) of the Endangered Species Act related to the potential introduction of grizzly bears in the North Cascades.

Rep. Dan Newhouse’s amendment to prohibit funds from being used to finalize the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) proposed “Landscape and Conservation Health” rule was adopted in the Interior and Environment Appropriations.

Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), the Congressional Western Caucus, and the House Committee on Natural Resources launched an Endangered Species Act Working Group.
