Newhouse Supports Legislation to Stop Illegal Immigrants From Using Arrest Warrants to Board Planes
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) cosponsored the Crime Doesn’t Fly Act to prohibit the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) from accepting ICE arrest warrants as valid identification documents for flying after Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Mayorkas confirmed TSA was accepting these documents as proof of identity. Specifically, the legislation would prohibit Forms I-200 Warrant for Arrest of Alien and I-205 Warrant of Removal as TSA-approved identification.
“It is absolutely absurd that an illegal immigrant with an arrest warrant would be able to pass through security and board a flight without alerting law enforcement,” said Rep. Newhouse. “It is even more absurd for TSA to be implementing policies and procedures that encourage illegal immigration amidst record-breaking crime and illegal immigration levels in this country. This policy is irresponsible, misguided, and downright dangerous. I’m proud to stand firm in protecting the safety and security of our communities and call on the Biden Administration to step up and do the same.”
