WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) today released the following statement after the Secretary of the Army provided the report to Congress on the acquisition of the McNary Shoreline in Central Washington.

"There is still work to do to ensure a transfer is done properly, with all necessary information and documentation on the land in question," said Rep. Newhouse. "The release of this report, as required by law, is a positive and necessary step forward for the possible re-conveyance of this property and ensuring broad community support."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representatives Dan Newhouse (R-WA) and Chris Collins (R-NY), today wrote to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue requesting the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS) conduct a full disease and pest management risk analysis (PRA) for apples imported from Poland, which has not previously met phytosanitary requirements for U.S. market access.

Dan Newhouse (R-WA) announced that six students across Central Washington have received appointments to attend U.S. military academies and military academy preparatory schools. The appointments followed Rep. Newhouse's nominations for each appointee. The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. Rep. Newhouse called each appointee to offer congratulations.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) and Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME) introduced H.R. 2321, the Cultivating Revitalization by Expanding American Agricultural Trade and Exports (CREAATE) Act. The CREAATE Act would reassert the importance of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Market Access Program (MAP) and Foreign Market Development Program (FMDP) to America's agricultural producers and economy as a whole, and provide the U.S. agricultural community with the tools needed to retain its edge in an increasingly competitive global economy.
