WASHINGTON, D.C. – Carol Newhouse, beloved wife of Congressman Dan Newhouse (R-WA), passed away yesterday, May 12, 2017. Carol was a strong, beautiful, and loving mother, wife, and friend. Carol's sparkling wit and joyful countenance will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family is grateful for the patience, support, and prayers of so many and requests privacy during this time of grieving.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) and Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME) introduced H.R. 2321, the Cultivating Revitalization by Expanding American Agricultural Trade and Exports (CREAATE) Act. The CREAATE Act would reassert the importance of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Market Access Program (MAP) and Foreign Market Development Program (FMDP) to America's agricultural producers and economy as a whole, and provide the U.S. agricultural community with the tools needed to retain its edge in an increasingly competitive global economy.


For millennia, humankind has harnessed the power of water. The ancient Romans developed the earliest water wheels to grind grain into flour. In modern times, hydropower emerged as an affordable, clean, and reliable source of renewable energy. Advancing the development of hydroelectricity generation as well as increasing water storage capacity should be a national priority in the interest of American energy independence and drought mitigation.
