WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04) released the following statement upon committee passage of the Fiscal Year 2026 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.  

"The United States is at a critical point regarding the future of domestic energy production, and this legislation makes clear the prominent role nuclear energy and small modular reactors will play as we work to become truly energy dominant," said Rep. Newhouse.

The work being done at PNNL addresses some of our nation's most complex national security, energy, and environmental challenges.

The Biden Administration's approach to energy is the last thing America needs – especially when the United States is already leading the world in emissions reductions.

President Biden is forcing our nation to adopt global standards the rest of the world is already failing to meet while eliminating opportunities for hard-working Americans. Sadly, his job-killing proposals come at a time when we are still reeling from the economic, societal, and psychological impacts of the global pandemic.
