The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is working around the clock to influence our institutions and change our way of life back home. In recent years there has been a tremendous increase in agricultural land being purchased by Chinese companies with ties to the Chinese Communist Party, much of which is located near sensitive sites and U.S. military installations. That is why I am working to implement strong, common-sense policies to prevent these foreign land grabs.
As a member of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition with the CCP I have introduced legislation to prevent agricultural land from being purchased by any foreign nationals associated with the CCP as well as legislation to prevent foreign adversaries from taking ownership of agricultural businesses or land associated with them.

As the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) deepens its roots in the United States and around the world, Congress must strongly respond and defend our sovereignty. The Trump administration has implemented a strong position on the efforts of our greatest adversary. In the interest of putting America first and securing our domestic supply chains, we must prioritize protecting American land from the CCP and ensuring we have a comprehensive understanding of which foreign entities are purchasing U.S. farmland.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04) reintroduced bicameral legislation to prevent entities associated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from purchasing critical American farmland and land adjacent to federal property.
“The Chinese Communist Party is our most formidable adversary, and we must act immediately to defend our food and national security interests,” said Rep. Newhouse.
Over the past two years, as a member of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, we have uncovered the malign influence the CCP has in American institutions. With these revelations, we have committed to finding real, actionable solutions to prevent the CCP from tightening their grip on our nation’s security and way of life.
