Law Enforcement
The past few years have been brutal on our nation’s law enforcement. Violent crime is at a record high, local officials have defunded our police, violence towards public safety officers is through the roof, all at a time when first responders feel underpaid, under supported, and unappreciated.
I am working with my colleagues in Congress and community leaders across Central Washington to ensure we deliver the resources law enforcement needs to protect us and our neighbors from violent crime and deadly drugs like fentanyl. I am also fighting for tribal police in Central Washington, and have sponsored legislation to improve hiring capabilities and increase retention to better protect all our communities.

Every May we honor our law enforcement during National Police Week and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring they have the resources and authority needed to keep our communities safe. We are lucky here in Central Washington to have some of the best-trained local and tribal officers, and they deserve recognition for their work to keep us and our families safe.
This National Police Week, my colleagues and I in Congress are passing common-sense legislation that sends a clear message: we stand with our local law enforcement.
