Dan Newhouse (R-WA) announced that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded grant funding to the police departments of the City of Yakima, the City of Moses Lake, and the City of Kennewick. Moses Lake and Yakima received funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program and Kennewick received funding through the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act (LEMHWA).

This bill will create a new program at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to support schools working on food waste reduction projects.
Reps. Newhouse and Pingree recently relaunched the Food Recovery Caucus, a bipartisan group of members who are committed to reducing food waste nationwide in recognition of the environmental and economic harms of food waste.
